What you can expect

Our walking tour begins in Piazza Stesicoro, home to the impressive Roman Amphitheatre dating back to the 2nd century AD, a remarkable testament to the city's ancient past. From here, we will stroll along the enchanting Via dei Crociferi, widely regarded as one of Italy’s most beautiful Baroque streets, lined with stunning churches and historic buildings. The street is framed by the elegant portal of Villa Cerami, now home to the Faculty of Law, and the iconic Arch of San Benedetto.

Continuing along the bustling Via Etnea, Catania’s main avenue, we will reach Piazza Università, dominated by the majestic Central Building of the University of Catania, one of the oldest universities in Italy.

The tour then leads us to Piazza Vincenzo Bellini, where the magnificent Teatro Massimo Bellini stands as a tribute to the city's most celebrated composer. We will continue towards the splendid Piazza Duomo, the beating heart of Catania, where visitors can admire the famous Liotru, the lava-stone elephant that has become the symbol of the city, alongside the beautiful Cathedral of Saint Agatha.

Our journey will take us through the lively and colourful Pescheria Fish Market, a unique glimpse into everyday Sicilian life, before concluding at the imposing Castello Ursino, the medieval fortress built by Emperor Frederick II and now home to the Civic Museum of Catania.

Experience the charm, history, and authentic atmosphere of Catania on a walking tour that reveals the city's most iconic landmarks and hidden treasures.
