Sangsan Ilchulbong is a large 182m lava rock created by the eruption of an underwater volcano 5,000 years ago. As the volcano erupted and cooled, it formed a large crater-shaped volcanic rock. It is famous for its castle-like scenery and as a place to watch the sunrise due to its location on the east. Seongsan Ilchulbong is a World Natural Heritage site and the most visited tourist destination in Jeju. Also, at 2 o'clock every day, there is a haenyeo performance on Seongsan Ilchulbong Beach. On days when the weather is very bad, the haenyeo performance is suddenly cancelled.
