In this interactive museum of nature in Amsterdam, only 10 minutes from city centre and next too ARTIS Zoo, you’ll discover how humans, animals, plants, and microbes together form one ecosystem. By touching, smelling, listening, and observing, you’ll experience that we, as humans, are also part of nature.
Through 1,000 large and small examples, you’ll explore the similarities between yourself and other animals and plants. Did you know that trees communicate with each other, just like neighbors? Or that babies move in ways similar to crocodiles?
Set off on a journey of discovery through many interactive machines and be moved by art, sounds, and scents. In this way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of your connection with nature. There are also various activities, and lectures to attend in the museum.
Exhibition: We, Aquatic animals
With We, Aquatic animals, the temporary fantasy aquarium investigates how water forms the basis of all life. From fish and worms to humans: every living being is connected to water in its own way. This shared origin shows how closely people and nature are intertwined and that we may be more aquatic than we think.
With a combination ticket, you can also visit the other ARTIS locations: discover the world of microbes at ARTIS-Micropia and experience nature up close at ARTIS Zoo.
