What you can expect

Your combined admission gives you access to both UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Northern Tasmania, the 2.8km Convict Farm Walk between them, suspension bridge and the Unshackled digital exhibition at Woolmers Estate.

Woolmers Estate - Est. 1817
At Woolmers, explore 18 original heritage buildings across 13 hectares, wander the expansive rose garden and discover the Convict Assignment storey at the Unshackled exhibition. Dine in the 1840s Servants Kitchen or Rose Garden Café.

Convict Farm Walk & Suspension Bridge
The Convict Farm Walk follows the Macquarie River between both properties, covering the same ground assigned convicts walked between the two estates.

Brickendon Estate - Est. 1824
At Brickendon, settled in 1824 and still farmed by 7th-generation Archer descendants, a working heritage farm in Tasmania with more than 20 convict-built buildings in the 1820s Farm Village, including a Gothic chapel, woolshed, smokehouse and timber pillar granary. The 4-hectare Heritage Gardens surround the Georgian homestead. Daily animal feeding runs at 10:15am on this 465-hectare working property.

Together the two estates are the most complete surviving picture of the Assignment System in colonial Tasmania and one of the most rewarding historic day trips from Launceston on offer in the state.
