Depending the route you choose, the guide will meet you at either Platteklip Gorge starting point or India Venster starting point Platteklip Gorge is the direct, historic route to the summit, a steady, steep uphill hike through the gorge that splits the mountain's iconic face in two. No technical skill needed, just a proper mountain workout. India Venster takes a more thrilling line up the western side, with chains, ladders, and short scrambles across exposed rock, plus some of the best views on the mountain. It demands a head for heights and sure footing. Your guide keeps a safe pace, shares the mountain's fynbos, wildlife, and history along the way, and gives you time at the summit to take in the City Bowl, Table Bay, and the Atlantic seaboard before heading back down. Moderate to good fitness is required depending on route, and India Venster isn't suitable if you're uncomfortable with heights or exposed scrambling. Closed, sturdy shoes are essential. Your guide carries a first aid kit and monitors weather throughout, with small groups to keep it personal.
