What you can expect

Hoboken’s Manhattan views, riverfront parks, industrial past, immigrant influences, brownstones, cafes, shops and food offer a unique look into local life and history.

Please read this to better understand the city I hope we will explore together: nytimes.com/1985/11/15/arts/hoboken-a-10-minute-ride-to-far-away.html

The following are examples of where we can go. We can customise!

Waterfront. Hoboken has transformed its industrial piers into beautiful parks and promenades, which offer expansive views of the New York City skyline. The largest is Pier A Park, extending 800 feet into the Hudson River. The Urban Land Institute named it a top 10 US urban park.

History. Hoboken is the birthplace of baseball, Frank Sinatra and the zip; key player in American wars, immigration and industrialisation; and former home to some of the 20th century's most advanced shipyards and factories, including Maxwell House, Lipton Tea and Tootsie Roll.

Museum. For those interested, we can visit Hoboken’s quaint historical museum. ($5 entry. Only open in afternoon. Closed on Mondays.)

Architecture. With tree-lined blocks of 3- and 4-story brownstones, pavement cafes and a few cobblestone streets, you won’t believe you’re only a mile from Times Square. We'll also visit Hoboken's rail terminal – quietly the 9th busiest in North America – whose 1907 Beaux Arts waiting room will take you back in time.

Washington Street. Hoboken’s main commercial thoroughfare is home to restaurants, bars, cafes and shops – many still locally owned. The American Planning Association once named it one of the “10 Great Streets in America.”

Immigration. Hoboken was a prominent destination for German and Irish immigrants in the 19th century and Italians and Puerto Ricans in the 20th century. Their influences remain visible in contemporary Hoboken’s buildings, churches, food, festivals, social clubs and people.

Bakeries, Delis & Gelaterias. The original Carlo's Bakery (aka Cake Boss, 1910) and Fiore’s (housemade mozzarella, 1913) are among Hoboken's most famous local eateries. More recently, Kikilu Gelato rose to the top of Hoboken's must-taste attractions – the best outside Italy!

Bars, Bagels & Pizzerias. Along with allegedly having “the most bars per square mile” in the US, Hoboken features countless bagel shops and pizzerias, creating ample opportunity for guests to sample New York style bagels, pizza and bacon-egg-and-cheeses.

American Brands. For out-of-town visitors seeking well-known brands without Manhattan crowds, Hoboken has a Shake Shack, Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, Nike Store, lululemon and more – all within a 5-minute walk!

Stevens Institute of Technology. A top-100 American university perched on a hill above the Hudson River, the Stevens campus offers still more spectacular views of the Empire State Building, One World Trade Centre (Freedom Tower) and surrounding skyline.
