What you can expect

  • Come to visit the only lake in the world where the local fishermen still use the famous “butterfly nets”. Departing 11 AM, we go direct to the lakeshore and will do the boat ride to Janitzio Island to watch famous butterfly nets.
    Discover the statue of “Morelos” on top of Janitzio Island, built in 1934, which is actually higher than the Statue of Liberty in New York, USA.
    Try the local gastronomy at lunchbreak and enjoy free time at main square.
    Some of the local specialities are the Sopa tarasca, Enchiladas placeras and the Churipo; any of these can be found in restaurants around the main square.
    After lunch, enjoy the walk in city centre and discover the best local artwork in shops, galleries and street vendors as well.
    As you walk the cobblestoned streets, admire the white walls & tile roofs in the city of Patzcuaro named the state capital as of 1534.
