Begin your hike in Forest Park, a lush oasis on the edges of Portland. Choose between a morning or afternoon departure, each offering a unique experience.
On the morning hike, explore a classic Northwest Portland trail, ending at the International Rose Test Garden. In the afternoon, start at Goose Hollow, near city centre Portland, and weave through areas before ascending into the park.
Pass iconic spots like the Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion, and the Witch's Castle. As you walk, immerse yourself in the forest’s tranquility, a place that feels both timeless and vibrant.
This trail includes 5.5 miles or 9 kilometres of hiking with a 800 feet or 275 metre elevation gain throughout the hike. It is a one-way hike that starts at a coffee shop at one end of the hike and ends a few miles away. The morning option will end at the Rose Garden while the roses are in bloom, and at another location in Washington Park (or, by request, as a loop) during the winter and early spring.
