What you can expect

  • Pto Maldonado – Sandoval Lake Lodge
    Travellers will be picked up at the airport or bus station and taken to the lodge. We will drive 15 minutes through the city of Puerto Maldonado. Then we will navigate the Madre de Dios River for about 40 minutes before arriving at the Sandoval Lake checkpoint (TAMBOPATA).

    Here, we will have the opportunity to observe animals such as: giant otters, 4 species of monkeys, butterflies, and a variety of colourful birds native to Peru.

    -Accomodations: travellers will have the privilege of sleeping inside the National Reserve at Sandoval Lodge: a lodge belonging to a local family. This lodge is simple, comfortable, and a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature. Lodge.

    – For lunch, we will eat a typical jungle dish “JUANE” at the Sandoval – After lunch, travellers will get a few minutes to rest and settle in before partaking on an afternoon exploration of the virgin forest. Here, we will search for more animals, birds, and native plants in the area.

    -That evening, we will search for caimans, some reaching 4 metres long, before returning to the lodge for the night.

    DAY 2

    Sandoval Lodge – Palm Forest – Paradise Lodge
    -At 4:30am, we will take a walk through the palm forest to observe the macaws and blue-yellow parrots eating their breakfast (nuts).

    Then, we will head back to Sandoval Lodge to have our breakfast and finish exploring the National Reserve. -From here, we will return via boat to Paradise Lodge (our first lodge) where we will have lunch waiting.

    -In the afternoon, travellers will get to partake in an adventure of canopy and ziplining. Here, you will be able to observe toucans and other small, colourful birds. That night, we will take a nightwalk, getting to see a variety of animals from tarantulas, snakes, and insects.

    DAY 3

    Paradise Lodge – Pto Maldonado
    After breakfast, we will pack our things and return to Puerto
    Maldonado. Here, travellers have the option to stay in the city or be
    dropped off at the airport.
