You will walk looking and learning about the main sights of this area, starting at Regal Cinema, followed by the Gateway of India, Cathedral of the Holy Name, and then the buildings on the south side of Kala Ghoda such as the Institute of Science, Prince of Wales Museum, David Sassoon Library, Elphinstone College, Army and Navy Building, Watson Hotel and Jehangir Art Gallery.
We’ll then head over to Oval Maidan, the large park popular for games of cricket at all times of the day, from where we can get a good view of Mumbai University and its clock Tower Rajabhai, as well as Mumbai High Court.
We’ll walk towards Churchgate Railway Station, Flora Fountain and the UNESCO Heritage Award Winning St Thomas Cathedral, where we’ll also stop briefly for a lassi or other drink before heading to the imposing structure of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai.
We’ll meander through the small business lanes of Fort, bustling with activity, before arriving at the Indo-Saracenic General Post Office and then the jewel of the crown, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, colloquially known as VT station in honour of Queen Victoria, and in recent times featured in the film Slumdog Millionaire.
We’ll then get a taxi back to the starting point, where the tour will end.
