Experience the Pacuare River, one of the world’s top rivers, on a full-day whitewater rafting adventure from San José.
Your day begins with early hotel pickup and a drive towards the Turrialba region where the rafting hub is located at, passing through Cartago, Costa Rica’s historic capital city, and the surrounding countryside. Stop for breakfast before continuing to the river put in.
At the river, your professional rafting guides will provide the required equipment and explain paddling techniques and safety procedures before you begin.
Then set out on approximately 18 miles of Class III–IV whitewater. Along the route, navigate rapids such as Huacas, Rodeo, Pinball, Cimarrones and Dos Montañas, while passing waterfalls and rainforest scenery.
Stop along the river for a picnic lunch before continuing the rafting route.
After completing the rafting portion, change into dry clothes at the designated facilities, where available, before beginning the return journey to San José.
This is an active adventure involving paddling and exposure to Class III–IV rapids. Participants should be comfortable with strenuous physical activity and able to follow the instructions of the rafting guides. Minimum age is 12 years old and older, who are ready for adventure and being physically active all day.
