Saeva Dupka’s five halls and 400 metres of corridors offer some of the most beautiful cave formations in the country. The cave has hosted many choral music performances due to its the excellent acoustics. Saeva dupka was named after two brothers, Seyu and Sae, who used it as a hiding place during the Ottoman occupation of Bulgaria. Recent excavations have shown the cave was inhabited since Roman times. Saeva dupka is one of the 100 top tourist sites in Bulgaria.
Brestnica village is located 100 kilometres north-east of Sofia. After a drive of 1 hour and 30 minutes across the Balkan range (highway), you will reach the cave. A visit there takes about 1 hour. After this, you will continue to the cave of Prohodna (God's Eyes). This stunning natural creature is like a temple and several films have been shot there.
A very short drive from there is the Zlatna Panega Eco trail along the beauitiful river. The park features a 3km long trail (both ways) and can be easily walked with children or optionally you can rent a boat ride. A great place for picnic or relaxation among the amazing nature!
