What you can expect

Important Note: Group tour option is available on Wednesdays and Sundays (starting March 1). Private options are available everyday, except on Mondays, as Zvartnots Cathedral is closed on Mondays.

Begin your journey at Khor Virap Monastery, offering breathtaking views of biblical Mount Ararat. This sacred site holds immense religious significance as the place where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned, marking the beginning of Christianity in Armenia — the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion.

Continue to Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the spiritual centre of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Originally built in the early 4th century, it is widely considered the oldest cathedral in the world. The name “Etchmiadzin” means “The Descent of the Only Begotten,” referring to the vision of Christ said to have inspired its foundation. This is a rare opportunity to visit one of the most important Christian sites globally.

Next, explore the elegant St. Hripsime Church, dedicated to Saint Hripsime, one of the early Christian martyrs. Standing largely intact since the 7th century, it is regarded as a masterpiece of classical Armenian architecture and has influenced church design throughout the region.

Discover the fascinating ruins of Zvartnots Temple, a remarkable 7th-century circular cathedral once crowned with a grand dome. Its name, meaning “Host of Angels,” reflects its heavenly design and spiritual symbolism. Even in ruins, Zvartnots remains one of Armenia’s most impressive architectural monuments.

All these monuments are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, showcasing Armenia’s profound contribution to Christian history and architecture.
