MONDAY – Santana and the Levada do Caldeirão Verde
Levada: PR9 – Levada do Caldeirão Verde.
Distance: about 13 km (return).
Duration: 5–6 hours.
Level: Moderate.
This is one of the most iconic hikes in Madeira, passing through tunnels and the Laurisilva forest and ending at an impressive waterfall.
Visit to Santana:
- Traditional thatched houses;
- Miradouro do Guindaste (Faial).
Tuesday – São Vicente and the Levada do Rei
Levada: PR18 – Levada do Rei.
Distance: about 10 km.
Duration: 3–4 hours.
Level: Easy to moderate.
The trail ends in Ribeiro Bonito, one of the lushest places in the Laurissilva forest.
Visit São Vicente:
- Ribeira da Janela Viewpoint;
- Seixal Beach.
WEDNESDAY – Porto Moniz and the Ribeira da Janela Levada
Levada: Levada da Ribeira da Janela.
Distance: about 8–10 km.
Duration: 3 hours.
Level: Easy.
Hike through one of the deepest valleys on the island, surrounded by lush vegetation.

- Natural lava pools;
- Ribeira da Janela Viewpoint.
THURSDAY – Calheta and the Levada das 25 Fontes
Levada: PR6 – Levada das 25 Fontes + Risco Waterfall.
Distance: 9–11 km.
Duration: 3–4 hours.
Level: Moderate.
This is probably the most famous levada in Madeira, with dozens of springs and a lagoon surrounded by waterfalls.
Visit to Calheta:
- Golden sand beach;
- Calheta Marina;
- Sugar Cane Mill.
FRIDAY – Ponta do Sol and Levada Nova
Levada: Levada Nova da Ponta do Sol.
Distance: about 8 km (5 miles).
Duration: 2.5–3 hours.
Level: Easy.
A trail famous for the waterfall that passes over the path and for the views of the ocean.
Explore Ponta do Sol:

- Pebble beach;
- Viewpoints overlooking the Atlantic.
SATURDAY – Funchal and the Levada dos Tornos
Levada: Levada dos Tornos (Funchal).
Distance: about 10 km.
Duration: 3–4 hours.
Level: Easy to moderate.
Route: Hike along one of Madeira's oldest levadas, passing through forest areas, gardens, small farms and natural viewpoints overlooking Funchal and the Valley of João Gomes Ribeira.

SUNDAY – Machico / Ponta de São Lourenço
Hike: Ponta de São Lourenço (PR8)
Distance: about 7 km (return).
Duration: 2.5–3.5 hours.

A hike along the easternmost peninsula of Madeira, with volcanic landscapes, impressive cliffs and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
