Departing from Øystese, we first travel out into the open Hardangerfjord before turning into Fyksesund — a narrow and dramatic fjord arm framed by steep mountainsides and cascading waterfalls. As we move deeper into the fjord, the landscape becomes increasingly quiet and untouched, offering a rare sense of calm far from busy routes and crowds.

Along the way, your local skipper slows down for photo stops and short stories about the landscape, fjord life, and the people who once lived here. Fyksesund is especially impressive during snowmelt and after rainfall, when countless waterfalls pour straight down the mountainsides. We cruise close enough to several of them for you to feel the fresh spray from the falls.

Near the end of the fjord, we stop outside Botnen, a historic and completely roadless hamlet. Once home to a small fjord community, Botnen offers a unique glimpse into traditional life in the inner fjords and adds a strong cultural dimension to the experience.
