Pick-up from your hotel in the Colombo city area between 07:30 AM and 08:00 AM. Begin your journey along the scenic coastal road, passing through local towns and fishing villages. Enjoy a short refreshment stop in the Bentota area before continuing the tour.
Your first main visit is the Sea Turtle Hatchery and Conservation Centre. Here you will learn about Sri Lanka’s important turtle conservation work and see different species of turtles including baby turtles being cared for and released.
Next, proceed to the Madu Ganga River Safari, one of the most beautiful wetland experiences in Sri Lanka. Cruise through calm waters surrounded by thick mangroves and small islands. During the boat ride, you may see mangrove forests, cinnamon islands, traditional prawn traps, kingfishers, herons, black-faced monkeys, water monitors, and other rich birdlife. You will also visit a cinnamon island where you can watch a live demonstration of cinnamon processing and learn about the local cinnamon industry. There is also an optional fish foot massage experience in the shallow river waters.
After the boat safari, return to your vehicle and stop for a relaxed seafood lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, continue to Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the historic fort area and explore its colonial buildings, charming streets, boutique shops, and ocean views, reflecting a blend of European and South Asian heritage from the 16th to 19th centuries.
After the visit, begin your return journey to Colombo via the Southern Motorway which takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. Arrive back at your hotel in the evening.
