Upon arrival at the winery, guests will be welcomed with a cup of coffee in the winter season or a Medio y Medio (a traditional Uruguayan drink) in the summer season in the park.
Then, the winemaker will tell you the storey of the family business from its beginnings and how it has evolved over time. Next, you'll visit the vineyard of Tannat, Uruguay's iconic grape variety, and then continue the tour of the winery's facilities. You'll be able to see the production plant and its machinery and enter an original tank from 1930. After that, we'll move on to the cellar, where we have the largest number of barrels on display in Uruguay, dating back to 1940; the barrel cellar, where we make our Anticuario Sherry and where our Reserva and Gran Reserva wines age; and the cellar where our natural Fond de Cave sparkling wine rests, making it the largest underground cellar in operation on the continent. You'll also get a master class on disgorging sparkling wine using the machinery we use in the process.
Finally, you will visit the museum of the Old San Javier Winery, dating back to 1820, where we have wines from 1967, 1978…
The tasting and lunch will take place in the winery's underground cellar.
