Escape the busy tourist routes and discover one of Ben Tre's most peaceful hidden experiences. Perfect for travellers already staying in Ben Tre, this relaxing one-hour rowing boat journey offers an authentic glimpse into everyday life in the Mekong Delta.
Your experience begins at a peaceful local family house just minutes from Ben Tre City. After a short welcome and briefing from your English-speaking host, step aboard a traditional wooden rowing boat operated by a local rower.
Slowly glide through narrow coconut canals shaded by coconut palms and nipa palms. Unlike large commercial tours, this experience moves at the gentle rhythm of local life, allowing you to appreciate the silence, fresh air and beautiful tropical scenery.
Depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to taste fresh nipa palm fruit harvested directly from the canal.
If time allows and the workshop is open (normally before 3:00 PM), you may also enjoy a short optional visit to a small family-run coconut sweets and chocolate workshop. Watch local artisans making traditional coconut sweets and locally produced chocolate before returning to your boat. This optional stop may have a few other visitors but is never a large tourist attraction.
There is no English-speaking guide on the boat, and the local rower speaks only Vietnamese. Before departure, your English-speaking host will explain everything you need to know so you can simply relax and enjoy the journey.
