  • If the event is cancelled, notification may be given by staff either in the morning or at the meeting point.
  • In the event of cancellation on the day, transport expenses and other costs incurred to reach the meeting point will not be refunded.
  • If the cancellation is decided after the bus has departed, the tour fee will also not be refunded.
  • The viewing area is not equipped with chairs. We recommend bringing a cushion or mat to sit on. (Folding chairs are not allowed.)

What you can expect

Get on the bus from the meeting point in front of the Shinjuku Post Office in Tokyo and head to Suwa City in Nagano Prefecture. First, we will stop at the Oginoya Suwa branch for a lunch break. Meals are not included in the tour, so please enjoy lunch at your own expense. After leaving Oginoya, we will head to the venue of the Suwako Fireworks Festival.

The Suwako Fireworks Festival is one of the largest fireworks displays in Japan, with over 40,000 fireworks launched in total — the highest number in the country. Fireworks will begin at 7:00 p.m. Until then, feel free to explore the festival area on your own.

The festival consists of two main sessions. The first session is a competition among Japan’s leading fireworks manufacturers, who compete in speed and beauty. The second session features magnificent, large-scale displays. Highlights include giant over-water fireworks and the impressive two-kilometer-long “Niagara” display. Along with the dynamic visuals, the sound echoing off the surrounding mountains creates an unforgettable experience.

The viewing area is about 400–500 metres west of the main launch site, along the lakeside with a clear view of Suwako Lake and the over-water fireworks.
Please note: Seats are on the ground, not chairs. We recommend bringing a cushion or mat for comfort.

We will stay until the end of the fireworks show. Afterwards, we will return to Shinjuku by overnight bus. Blankets and slippers will be provided for a more comfortable journey. Arrival in Shinjuku is expected in the morning.

Tour conductors and local staff who are very familiar with the Suwako Fireworks Festival will support you throughout the tour.

Please bring rain gear, a torch, and insect repellent.
Note: Umbrellas are not allowed as they obstruct the view of others. Please use rain wear instead.
