Hotel cleanliness was adequate and nice rooms but the manager was extremely unprofessional and entered our room without knocking or notice during the late evening to check the air conditioning. Once we brought up the concern we didn’t feel safe with people entering our room without notice they got very defensive and refused to acknowledge our concern.

Receptionist could not communicate in English, which one would expect in the hospitality industry. Room had 2 coffee sachets. I had a coffee at check-in and one that evening. When I asked for an extra sachet of coffee for the next morning, he refused to give me one. Is the cost of a single sachet vs a disappointed customer worth it? Sometimes It’s the small things that matter.

A week in Marseille
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It is literally round the corner from Saint Charles. So very convenient for visiting other nearby towns. Two of the reception staffs we met gave great advice on places to visit and metro, tram tickets, etc. They were lovely. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Bonito lugar, limpio y buen precio pero el barrio es bastante lamentable. Queda a pocas cuadras de la estación y por lo mismo las calles están llenas de mendigos y olor a orines.

Only stayed one night but this is a small, clean hotel a stone’s throw from St Charles station with very friendly staff. The room was compact and basic with a small window overlooking neighbouring walls but was quiet, clean and had all the necessaries.

Te worst hotel in the whole world. We got there an air conditioner was not working . They said they will switch us to a different room the following day and they did but the room was smaller that we paid for and still the air conditioner didnt work either. They keep saying that they will fix it everyday and they didnt. Staff was very but vet very rude. They didnt even let us speak with manager. i am surprised that expedia has this hotel on their list.To make things worse there was a huge rat in the entrance of hotel. We called expedia so many times to get help and we only got a credit like for 25 dollars . WE stayed there for 5 nights and it was hell. The hotel keep lying about fixing the air conditioner or changing us to a different room,. It was hell .

The hotel is well-located especially for those travelling to or from the train station. The room was small but very clean. There is no mini fridge in the room and the hotel was not able to provide an ice bucket when we wanted to chill a bottle of wine for aperitivo, but this was a very minor inconvenience.

Massilia Hotel worked for us, close to destination
Room and fittings were good. But small. Nicely renovated, tasteful decor and quality materials. Great lift for such a small hotel, new too!! Easy to negotiate stairs. Breakfast area again small, but the food and choices were excellent, one of the best we have had this trip. Staff friendly and efficient. Price is right.

Tiny room in an ugly area
The hotel was in an ugly part of town that had graffiti everywhere. The staff were rude and didn’t speak English. The view out the window was hideous (a dirty alley). The entire room was the size of a closet; there was no room to walk around and I constantly stubbed my toes on the bed. The only positives were that it was close to the train station (10 mins walking) and the room was relatively clean. Overall, a disappointing stay, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Hotel Massilia, Marseille
The hotel is in a quiet side street but only 2mins from St Charles station and so handy for making trips around Provence by train or bus. The Old Port can be reached in minutes by the metro. The rooms are modern and very clean. The beds are super comfy. A good breakfast is available for a small charge. Hotel staff are all helpful and friendly. This will be my first choice hotel for my next stay in Marseille.

Nice welcome. Handy if travelling into the train station. Seems to be recently renovated. Really small room but OK for one person. Unfortunately the new looking bathroom was let down by the shower flooding everywhere as the door around it didn't work. It was nice and quiet.

The hotel is not in a good neighborhood. the rooms have bare minimum and they are very small. The Staff do not speak English, very difficult to communicate. I don't believe I would come back to this hotel.

nice, easy stay. very close to train station (less than 5 mn) and about 15 min walk to Old Port. really nice room. very clean and modern. lots of storage spots. only downside is the room walls are very thin. i could hear all my neighbors talking, coughing, laughing, etc. both nights i woke up to people entering their rooms and chatting. one time at 2am (and im a pretty deep sleeper but i had to put earplugs in) other than that, the stay was really great. great staff, very friendly too.

I picked this hotel mostly because of its location close to Marseille St. Charles train station. I was a little worried when I checked in, because my friend in town told me it was a sketchy area at night. The reception area is also not overly welcoming and I was very worried about what kind of hotel I was in for. However, I had prepaid and the staff spoke minimal English, so I went up to the room with low expectations. The room was lovely and recently renovated. The shower was very clean and the room was quiet facing onto a central courtyard. There are only four rooms on each floor, so I only briefly heard one neighbor and that was it.

Marseille - A French Reconnection
Last visited Marseille over thirty years ago. I should have come back sooner. The city and Provence is a delight. I went to the opera house; the vieux port; and all round the city. They have even added a metro system since last time. It works well, along with the rest of the transport system. Museum visits; beautiful churches; and bags of history. Cassis, Aix en Provence, and Arles thrown in, only down the road. The April weather was 20C all week. That helps. If you can chat away in French, then so much the better. The locals are friendly. Remember, Marseille isn't Paris or Nice. It is a big city with it's own sense of identity. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The food was good and with a choice for all budgets.

Good hotel near the station
I had only a really short stay at the hotel but I wouldn't have minded staying there longer if the travel arrangements weren't already fixed. The hotel is just a short walk away from the station so it was convenient for catching the train to the airport in the morning, and I didn't have to wake up too early. Only bad point about the location is that I had to drag the heavy suitcase up the hill to reach the station. It's also a short walk from the hotel to the shops and restaurants, and the harbour. I had booked a standard double room, which was quite small but cozy: it was good enough size for one person for a short stay, however, in my opinion, for two people it would have been too small. Also, there were only two small windows in the bathroom but none inside the main room area itself, which made the room a bit dark. Then again there were also quite a few lamps in the room. The room was really clean and everything looked brand new. The Wi-Fi was fast and worked as expected, which I always appreciate.
