The hotel was fine for the area and OK for my one night BUT they shuttle to the airport started way too late, that to me was unheard of and if you wanted it earlier you had to pay a high price.

Nice hotel
The stay at the hotel was great, and the staffs were friendly and helpfull. The only downside was, booked 3 non smoking rooms (twin beds) months in advance, but was told only 1 twin rooms was available at check in. finally managed to get a twin room at the smoking level, which was less then ideal..

Disappointed
We had been looking forward to our stay and upon arrival wanting a cold beer and glass of wine only to be told no alcohol due to Ramadan. We are teachers in Malaysia and teach mostly Muslim pupils so aware of Ramadan. We purposely booked a European brand hotel to enjoy the services and on the website it shows a bar menu as well as spa services. So firstly to find outno alcohol and then that there would be no spa services either was disappointing as nothing stated this on the website or in emails.

We sincerely apologize for the incomplete information that you get in the web and for the inconvenience that you had experienced during your stay at Swiss-Belhotel Tarakan. It is true that alcohol and massage service is not available during the month of Ramadhan as it is a regulation from the government. We had requested with our online travel agent to inform that alcohol and massage is not available during Ramadan in the web. Hopefully they would grant our request and provide the information in the web soon. We also had checked the issue you addressed with our staff in the restaurant to gather some proper information. Although alcohol and massage service is not available during the month of Ramadhan, we try to do our best by being flexible and provide alcohol especially for foreign guest. Unfortunately, during your stay, our wine is currently sold out and we are running out of stock from our supplier (Jakarta supplier). We are still waiting for the supply. The only alcohol beverage that we have at that moment is beer and our staff had informed you this matter and you had beer as an alternative for the wine. As for the massage service, all our therapist who came from outside Tarakan island went back to their hometown and barely available during Ramadan. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience. We hope our reply explain the situation very well. We looking forward for your next visit Tarakan and we guaranteed that you will have better and great experience . Thank you.

ホテルの設備等が古くメンテナンスが行き届いていなかった。 ベットもマットレスが古く、スプリングが既にまともに動いておらず凹凸があり非常に不快な寝心地であった。部屋も暗い雰囲気で、3泊が限度であった。 値段的には、ジャカルタの4スター並みの値段であった。 次回出張時は、別のホテルに泊まる予定。

Very good location & infrastructure. Nice hotel rooms. Friendly staff, but unfortunatly little english spoken. Restaurant can be very loud if they have a singer/band.

Great Hotel in Tarakan
The hotel provides the best breakfast among others in Tarakan. But, the room rates are a bit over priced for Tarakan area. The reception / front office is short of people working. (Only one person.) Got to wait for a while for your turn to check in or any inquiry about the room's complaint.

Faded Glory
Overpriced and underserved -- This may have once been a nice hotel, but these days it is merely coasting along on the fact that it is the only hotel of its' class in Tarakan. During my stay the WiFi did not work anywhere in the hotel except the lobby and the staff repeatedly made up different stories about the reason why or when it would be fixed. Carpets worn and stained, walls scuffed, tiles chipped, bathrooms mildewy, drapes faded and the entire hotel smelled of stale cigarette smoke. To add insult to injury, they charged an outrageous rate for a 1km ride to the ferry terminal -- more than 5x what a taxi would have cost. I would highly recommend saving your money and getting a budget hotel when you are staying in the area for less than a quarter of the price.

Very nice sorrounding view hotel and will recommend to my colleagues in every travel to tarakan. Location of hotel is one of the most important to value and this hotel located at best place in tarakan. I will frequently visiting some places in kalimantan and tarakan will be one of my destination. Swissbell hotel has hospitality that needed for traveller who faraway for office or home. Completeness and facilities also hospitality of staffs made me comfortable.

Excellent hotel
This hotel was a dream come true! Not only were the staff exceedingly helpful and friendly, but they seemed genuinely happy to see you each time you pass through the lobby. The rooms were fantastic, the elevator was fast, everything was immaculately clean and desirible. The breakfast banquet was more than sufficient. A hotel that i was sad to leave, definitely.

For Tarakan it's Pretty Good
Although this is a business hotel we stayed here after spending 1 week in Borneo without a hot shower. Let me just say- at that point this place was luxurious. The restaurant is good and the buffet breakfast is very nice. The neighborhood is pretty standard for Indonesia but the staff could be more helpful. Most of the staff behind the front desk would evade our questions. It could possibly have been the language barrier or just not knowing the answer but they would just walk away and not return. It was . . . weird. If you are in Tarakan, this is a nice respite.
