"Helpful, friendly and informative staff. Fully appreciate the traditional architecture and warm atmosphere of a historical building. The well equipped public kitchen provides guests with the flexibility of preparing their own meals. Reminds me of dormitory experience back in University good old days. Room is large and comfortable. The only complaint is an additional charge for the outdoor onsen. One final note is guests of upper floors are required to carry their own luggage climbing up a steep wooden staircase to their rooms"

"Great place for families visiting Shimoda and Izu Peninsula. Definitely a hotel catering to Japanese tourists, but with a little Japanese and respect the staff is very friendly and works with you. Some of the staff spoke some English. Bathhouse, arcade, and hotel amenities were great. Walking distance to everything downtown and easy spot to drive to other locations. Would definitely stay here again with family on vacation. "

"Very spacious room with private onsen at an affordable price. Nice half board at the restaurant with Mt Fuji view. Check in was a bit troublesome as you have to go to the guesthouse at the far end which is a bit of a distance from our hotel room. But it's walkable and got shuttle bus. You can use onsen at other property in that area too."
