This is a very modern and nice hotel in a historic building. The location is unbeatable if you are staying there before a cruise because the cruise terminal entrance is only one block from the entrance to the hotel. One issue I had was that there are several steps to climb when you arrive at the hotel in order to enter the lobby, and it is very hard to get up the stairs to the lobby level when you are carrying heavy suitcases or are otherwise burden with packages. This would be very hard on the elderly or anyone with any physical limitations.
The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful; the young front desk clerk did everything he could to get us a room well before the official check in time, which we really appreciated after a long journey. Although we did not eat breakfast in the hotel on our one morning there, we walked through the restaurant, and the breakfast buffet looked appealing.
We requested and received a room with a king bed. The rooms were, as expected, a bit on the small side, but they were well furnished and modern. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities, while oddly laid out (the sink is in the hotel room and there are separate small rooms for the toilet and shower), were modern and worked well. The TV service was very good and even provided for streaming access. The room was a little dark and could use more lighting, but that did not present any issues.
