The room infested with cocarages coming out everywhere as soon the light is switched off. I think the bed sheets have not been changed also. I found body hair on the sheets. I realized to late, to change the hotel right the way, so I stayed there one entire night. - horrified. I was only able to take some rest with the light switched on, complete clothed and bathed myself in Deet. However next day I catched a flee or something like this during showering.... They asked me kindly to take breakfast.. sorry, in this conditions I refused.... It's a pitty, because for sure the hotel once has been quite nice somo 20-30 years ago. But is in need of complete renovation, by meaning, taking absolute everything out, fumigate against all kind of pests and then remake all. The only really nice touch in the hotel is the saunasteamshower in the room. Staff is indeed nice, as usual in Ethioia but do not help in solving problems. In aim to offer me something I would have expected something as a refund of already payed stay and the following night. Not, as they did, offerung me another room. For sure I will not take an offer like this as adequate. Please do not understand me wrong. I am not asking anything back from you, I only want to say, organize your mess and think in future about how to satisfy and serve as a real hotel of 4 Stars you definitvely do not deserve right now. In any case, I will never come back to your place, nor will anybody else from my company when we travel to Ethiopia.

I paid for two nights when i saw the good price and an excellent pictures of the hotel that looks perfect with long line of foreigners that gave me a full trust the hotel will be perfecc but what i found there was totally different from the the pictures, i booked for double bed they give single, No tv in the room they brought for after 4 hours, no internet for that night, it was very cold i asked for extra blanket and did not get it, the windows doesn'n closed, the hot water doesn'n work,the breakfast was scary finally although I paid for two nights i have run away after the first night and i felt that i am in the worest prison in ethiopia that located across the hotel. I didn't like any thing about it, the are the cheaters, they cheat people with fake pictures the should not call it hotel it is a pirate island.

DO NOT BOOK HERE (SERIOUSLY!)

I thought booking here would be good considering it was listing as about $100C/night but on sale. You have to drive through 20 minutes of dirt and no roads into a very unsafe looking area where if something happens, no police can come there at all. It was listed as in Addis. More like in NO MAN'S LAND with a pack of wolves waiting for you. Came to the "CROWN HOTEL" and it literally had all the parking lights, main lights, and even lobby lights basically off. Lobby had maybe one small light. I felt like I was walking into a cemetery. WIFI? First thing I asked about was the wifi, the guy was honest (he said ok sometimes). he said there was Wifi in my room. Lies! Literally NO SIGNAL! ROOM? Maybe it was the crown hotel in 1920, had an analog box tv that wasn't even plugged in and had no remote anyway. It was dirty a dirty room. Like it seriously needs to be updated. NO ELECTRIC PLUGS in the room to even plug in my laptop or phone or anything so no wonder the internet didn't work. What use would it be anyway since there is no plugs. It was so bad I felt bad writing this review because it felt like the owners inherited this hotel from some owner that went bankrupt and abandoned it. my wife and I could not stay there and it was 11:00pm at night, after driving through dirt roads that were dangerous and being tired, it took me a lot to leave at that time. He promised my money back, but didn't get it back. man! I got my money taken.Do not go here!Regrets!

Mikään ei pitänyt paikkansa koskien hotellin kuvausta. Ei saunaa ,ei buffet aamiaista, ei kuntosalia. Likainen pölyinen seutu ja kuvattu puutarha oli mutuaman neliön alueen kokonen nurmikenttä, jossa yksi puu ja pari pensasta. Vanha ja aikansa elänyt paikka. Kaukana Addis Abebasta ison pölyisen valtatien varressa oleva hotelli.

1 star hotel and not 4 star

Hotel need complete maintenance all areas. Hotel very far from city. Staff needs training. Poor food quality. No wifi. Area dusty and dirty. Had booked 3 nights but only stayed 1 night. Better book a hotel in downtown Addis.

Budget hotel

We had to change rooms since the initial room was close to the road with no hot water. We wee put in another room and we loved it. -it was quiet with hot water. Restaurant food was great!

Good Hotel with Very friendly staff

Very friendly and helpfull staff and generally competent. Breakfast was acceptable and included in the room price. Free and reliable airport transfer. Room service, cleaning and laundry are efficient. Highly recommended for groups

Nightmare

Info on Expedia's website does not match up at all with the reality of this hotel. We did not get the room we paid for. We were downgraded to a smaller room but not compensated. Their reason was that the side of the hotel the room we booked was on did not have water. They did not have working internet. They did have a gym, but it had standing water on the floor. Presumably because of their water issue they have a huge mosquito issue. I hardly slept because of the many mosquitoes. Throughout the night I killed around twenty of them, but still did not get all of them. The shuttle arrived 2 hours LATE to pick us up, and on the way out they informed me that the shuttle wa only free to and from the airport, when the Expedia listing said they give rides to major shopping centers as well. Finally they made an "exception", saying they hoped I would leave a good review! The staff is very friendly, but overall this seems like a hotel that is going out of business, but trying to stay afloat by not fixing anything or having any expenditures. I live in Ethiopia, so this review is not holding this hotel to a Western standard. There are many better options in Addis for cheaper than you would pay here.

Down(ward) from your expectation

If you expect the comfort as described in room descriptions, your expectations should go down by two-three grades/scores down. The hotel is quite old, without refurbished facilities. So jacuzzi in my executive suite became just a simple shower (no other features were working), furniture was looking as used by hordes, the food was served in out-dated restaurant environment. But both food itself and hotel service people were good. It seems that discount price is very rational one.

Rather run down hotel on the edge of town

The hotel is not a four star hotel - 3 star maybe. Perhaps used to be but now rather run down. But it was clean and staff were helpful and Internet worked.

Friendliest Staff in all of Addis!!!

If you want to experience the hospitality and friendliness of Addis,stay at the Crown Hotel,sip true Ethiopian Coffee in the Coffee House, and eat,drink & dance in the traditional restaurant. No it is not in the downtown area,but they will provide transportation for you. Partake in their tours of Addis & go to Mt Entoto. The sister tour agency will customize a tour to your budget & you will love it!! If you want silky sheets & organic toiletries spend hundreds in a stoic chain hotel, BUT if you wish to experience Ethiopia & its people,stay at the Crown Hotel.
