Hotel Vermont
10/10 Excellent
"The room was on the 3rd FL with a view of the bay. It was close to the stairwell so it was easy to get down to the gym on the 2nd FL or the ground floor restaurant. The elevators were on the slow side since they only had two and with 6 floors, you had to wait. The vent in our room luckily did not blow right into your face, they had the beds situated in a way that it blew over you so that was nice. The coffee machine and water/ carbonated water and refrigerated milk on every floor was nice. It was nice to smell coffee wafting through the air instead of perfumes. The hotel was a block away from the biking trail to the causeway and a few blocks from Church St so very centrally located. The parking situation at the adjacent parking deck was weird, though. So the hotel wanted $16/ night if you wanted to register your car with them or if you have the ParkMobile app, you can do it yourself... for $12/ night + $0.35 app fee. Parking times were 9A-6P (2 hours free but you have to start it on the ParkMobile app first so + $0.35). Sunday and holidays are free but you have to start it on the app first. We got there late Saturday so I started a session which went to midnight Sunday. If I started it before 6PM, it was $12 overnight fee. But since I started it after 6P, it only went up to midnight. There was no way to pay for an overnight stay. Monday was a holiday so another "free" day (+$0.35 app fee). For both free days, there was no way to pay overnight unless through the hotel."

Valcour Inn & Boathouse

"Our room was lovely with access to a beautiful porch with fabulous lake view. The room was also very comfortable and an adequate breakfast with coffee maker is available and always well stocked. There is no reception desk so we never encountered any one working there."
AC Hotel Burlington
8/10 Good
"In general, the rooms were decently appointed and have what you would expect from Marriott, minus a microwave (there’s clearly a space where one was intended to go). The staff were friendly and helpful. For a Marriott-run hotel though, it just felt as though something were missing. Can’t quite put my finger on it. In general, and especially for any UVM parents, the hotels in downtown Burlington are six of one half a dozen of the other. We’ve stayed at the Hotel Champlain, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard Marriott, and Hotel Vermont, and there is little to separate them from each other, except for loyalty programs and cost. Personally, I find mandatory valet annoying, especially when you may be in and out several times a day. Fortunately there are several public lots with park mobile available, essentially giving you and-and-out parking when you want it. So maybe the rooms will be a bit bigger at Hotel Vermont, and maybe your best bet for a bit of a water view is at Hotel Champlain, and you can nuke frozen burritos in your room at the Hilton, does any of it really matter? Probably not. These are all largely fungible experiences, all within easy walking distance of Church St and downtown. If you want a different experience go to Blind Tiger."
