On checking into my room Jan 27th, I found no hangers in closet, no hand towels in bathroom, soiled floor and a dirty floor towel in the bath room. The breakfast area is chaotic with poor oversight or food replenishment. Untrained staff. My room was changed to club room by the hotel mgt. Moving into the room I found the closet door (one half) jammed, no toilet paper and the fridge not working. There is a basic feeling of being let down. Unhappy with my stay though staff lacking motivation. Despite my repeat request to meet the Hotel GM, the front desk ignored it. The food is good but service is below standard.

A good, friendly hotel with wonderful staff

I was recommended by 2 independent people to try this hotel. The location is great, very close to Chennai City Centre, a small shopping mall, plus close to Marina Beach. Check-in was seamless and I was given a lovely corner room with dual aspect windows, with a view over the city and also facing the sea. There has been ample tea, coffee, and water in the room. The breakfast buffet is fairly good, with the option of omelet or dosa being freshly cooked. The big plus for me is the restaurant in the evening - 18 Degrees North. This, in my opinion, is underrated. The food is fantastic, especially the fish. If you stay at the hotel you can use a 50% off voucher each time. The chef - KiranKumar produces such tasty food for both the vegetarian and the non-vegetarian people. The lovely Clara was fantastic with her suggestions and recommendations. On the times when I needed additional toiletries or towels, Mr Vijay Kumar has come to the rescue. I have had good cleaning service from both Dinesh and Thiru, who are so friendly and accommodating. On extending my booking for an additional 3 nights, Naveen on the reception was most helpful. Whilst this hotel may not be the most luxurious, the attitude of the staff is amazing and willing to help. I would definitely recommend people to try this hotel, they should not be disappointed. Like everything in the world, nothing is perfect, but the willingness to improve is always there.

Would stay again, but only on special

They did not put us in the rooms we had booked and paid for. We book four rooms with twin beds instead they put some of our group in rooms with double beds, when we asked for this to be changed (and showed what we had booked) they said they where full even though they where clearly not. However the restaurants had great service and the pool was nice.

Spacious room. Shower basic but good size. Helpful staff. Hotel Taxi bit expensive. Had to use it for airport transfer as the local cabs needed a local mobile number for booking. City centre location with a mall close by.

There is no way this property has 4 stars. This us at best a 2 star hostel privare room. The shower floor and the blinds were disgusting. Full if mold and rust. Had i now been in an urgent trip i would have cancelled and not check in. Very disappointed that Expedia allows the pictures of such clean and elegant rooms to be displayed and then property deliver completely different. I relay on expedia to check. Very disappointed.

Rooms were not allotted on time and had to wait until 7.30 pm despite calling n informing on the day of arrival. Water clogging @ bathroom, supplies (towels essentials)were missing n it took them quite a few follow ups to provide it.

The property is old and indeed has all needed for a short stay. Air conditioning worked well which was wonderful for a visitor in chennai in June. But I stayed for almost 10 days and this is not the property for a longer stay. The food was just bad (except for the deserts for dinner), always cold and with little variety. Indian generally warm hospitality aside, staff is not trained well and not particularly accommodating or mindful. Unless reminded, cleaning service would forget to provide basic necessities such as toilet paper for example. Something needs to be done about the rings elevators make which are heard in the rooms from every floor. The music in the lobby is so repetitive and constant, after a while it becomes a torture to hear it. So I would describe Clarion as a good place to stay for the night where one has to manage things on their own. Perhaps this is what the price point reflects.

while booking it was mentioned swimming pool facilities but in actual it was not. when asked i was told it is closed due to maintenance. I stayed on 7th floor at corner room. outside my room was very dirty. However, staff was courteous but seems like typically slow . overall experience not so good

The bathroom wasn’t very clean. There were viable stains. The quality of the breakfast buffet was average. Location is great. If you’re looking to just stay the night this hotel works.

The property is good, looks beautiful from inside and outside, plus the outside are is also good, you can find everything nearby. Hotel staff is just fine, not too good, a bit slow while doing work. Plus dress code is a major problem there, which I didn’t like at all. Other than that everything is fine.

They didn’t give the room they have promised. They check about charges on everything ( we wer having breakfast- someone came in the middle and said let me check if it’s complimentary or not) , they keep on talk about the extra charges( don’t know why they crib so much about money). Website says extended checkout is available but they charged me 1500+ taxes for two hours with a small baby, staffs are not all friendly they are very harsh and keep on talking about the charges. Very unprofessional. Above all they don’t have a taxi service n the reception. I am not from India and was stucked without a cab for 20 min.
