"Great spot for our last night in Portland."
Mark Spencer Hotel
8/10 Good
"The Mark Spencer Hotel was definitely an experience I won't soon forget. By a textbook definition, the property would more likely be a 3 star hotel, but the staff really bumped it up to where I'd consider it a 4 star hotel. Let's start by saying the location was a major consideration. Public transport was easy and speedy (being able to take the MAX from PDX to DT was crazy convenient, making it $2.80, instead of $40+. There are a lot of restaurants, bars, and grocery stores within walking distance, It's a quick walk to the waterfront, PSU, and any number of sightseeing destinations. And with the MAX/FX2 just a few blocks away, I was able to easily go to Vancouver, WA, and east of the Willamette. The room itself was lovely. Comfortable bed (with lots of pillows), efficiency kitchen with cooking and dining utensils, black out shade for sleeping in, clean restroom, etc. I have zero complaints here. She's may be time-worn and storied, but I appreciate heirloom architecture far more than the pizzazz and blinding lights of the newer, "chic-er" area hotels. I read reviews about stains and mold, so I searched - I really searched, and found none. But the best part of my stay was the people who welcomed me, took care of me, and always had a smile. Particular shout out to Harrison and Tim, who went above and beyond. And Brent(?), who really followed up. Downtown anywhere is going to have challenges; theses guys really stepped up to make a pleasant stay. ❤️🤘💪"
Hotel Lucia
8/10 Good
"Loved this hotel! They had instant cameras available for rent at the front desk for $25 - such a great souvenir! They had a fantastic gym, some pinball machines (arcade), tons of board games to choose from, and best of all - beer hour! Free beer (choice of 3 varieties) in the lobby between 5-6pm!!! Room was lovely and clean, only concern was the shower quality - weak pressure and old shower head, but small concern for a generally excellent experience."
