I booked via hotels.com but opted to pay later at the hotel. BIG MISTAKE. A £26 Expedia prepayment was taken from my card used to make the booking which I assume was a pre-authorisation payment to make the booking. That was fine, I accept that. The day before I was due to arrive a payment of £267.23 was taken out of my account by oxo-expedia prepayment which should not have happened as I opted to pay AT THE HOTEL.
I was also asked to pay the full amount upon arriving at the hotel but thankfully after explaining the situation to the nice lady on reception with evidence of my payment she checked me in. I asked for the invoice on my departure and the amount did not match the charge taken from my account, in addition to hotels.com amount also being incorrect! This is incredibly frustrating as I don't have a correct invoice to claim expenses with the company I work for. I don't blame the hotel entirely I think there's been a degree of miscommunication from hotels.com and the third party Expedia/OYO with payment fees.
In future, I will opt to pay in full or avoid any hotel affiliated with OYO or Expedia.
Now on to the room review:
The room was very spacious with decent utilities and body wash/shampoo/conditioner was provided. The bed was ok but not the most comfortable but the sheets were clean.
The air con did not work and the same can be said for the bathroom exhaust fan. There was plenty of towels provided though but no hand soap.
Staff were friendly."
