"Staying at Citizen M is a lot like shopping at Aldi. There's some insider knowledge needed. The hotel is fairly high tech. The check in is mostly self service. You even make your own key card. You must use your key card to operate the elevator, which is great for security, but frustrating for first time travelers who aren't in on the secret. In your room, you use an ipad to operate your TV, lights, climate, and blinds. The room is small, but the lobby is huge and really nice — the kind of place...

Pros:
- GREAT location; easy walk to Fenway.
- Beautiful building w/ nice modern clean interior.
Cons:
- Ownership utilizes a 3rd-party mgmt platform; this made me nervous, as I've had poor experiences in the past with a property listed on Hotels.com but using a 3rd-party platform for signatures and payments. During the aforementioned poor experience, Hotels.com reps initially told me that this was not allowed, and that I should make no payments off Hotels.com....

"The room is very convenient for walking around Boston - and is right next to Boston University (noise). Unfortunately the noise from the city (sirens, traffic, yelling, etc) and light were very loud/noticeable. The room has only metal blinds and would greatly benefit from room darkening, heavy curtains to help eliminate some of that.

"The staff was helpful but the situation with the third party valet service was confusing and unclear. Room was nice, but there were loose fixtures, bulbs that were dead, and the fridge only runs for 2 hours at a time meaning drinks were warm by morning. Breakfast options are only okay and prices are high considering YNt entire menu is just different ways of preparing egg. Hotel was convenient for anyone going to a TD Garden event but overall it was a mixed bag."
