Grand Rapids hotel guide. Extended Stay America hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan

"I booked this property thru Expedia-DO NOT DO THIS!!! I got to the property and did not have a room which I had already paid for in advance!!! To change the reservation I was charged a LARGE fee and Expedia had false advertising free change/cancellation! They do allow the change but claim TRU charges a fee of so basically my 2 night stay changed to 1 night for same price as 2 nights! It was a legit nightmare. Then I get there and they don't have me down for a room and are sold out. So I pull up my confirmation and by some weird miracle they find a King room for 3 of us, but we made due. There was a smell in the room like old smoke, bed was ok, room is TINY!!!! Pool is small, staff did try to be helpful but no one refunded anything or offered anything. I also had to sit on the phone with EXPEDIA for over an hour to get them to "move the funds paid to the hotel" to cover the room. It was all such a joke and needless to say I would never ever ever deal with EXPEDIA again. And Tru obviously partners with them and there is an issue there too! Comfort Suites next door was much nicer and big rooms!!!!"

"It was convenient, next to the highway and close to the downtown area. Room was clean but small. Shuttle service was great, our shuttle driver Veronica was very nice and fun! No complimentary breakfast."

"The ice machines were out and the hotel had one bag of ice to use for guests, so needless to say we did not have ice anywhere in the hotel the entire stay. The pool area had no working lights. Our room had not been cleaned well as they're were DOZENS of old.room keys in our closet area and a Tupperware of dog biscuits (obviously brought by a previous guest) that was forgotten on top of the microwave cabinet. The restaurant was 'under construction' to get back to code. We stayed here two years ago and the hotel was 'under construction'. NOTHING has changed. Very outdated and seemingly no one cares. The only amenity that they did have was a coffee bar and when i went down at 9am they were out of coffee. Horrible. Neighbors woke us up with screaming kids at 7am on a Sunday and the front desk didnt even answer the phone. The front desk staff at check-in was pleasant and very nice. The only good part of the stay."

"Had to switch rooms due to uncleanliness, second room shower door wasn’t easily closed so water went everywhere, yard poorly up kept , bar in restaurant not open."
