Right off the bat, I want to acknowledge that the rest of the staff team across housekeeping and other touchpoints were helpful, polite, and courteous. Unfortunately, one particular counter staff member significantly undermined the entire experience.
Upon arrival, we were told rather curtly that only 1 out of our 3 rooms was ready, despite the fact that we were already more than an hour past the official check-in time. No estimated waiting time was given, and we were left sitting around aimlessly. When asked for clarification, the staff member cited a late check-out due to an event. That explanation does not justify making paying guests wait indefinitely.
After another 15 minutes, we asked again and were given the same response. Only after I pushed back did the staff suddenly offer alternative rooms that were already available. It was baffling that this option existed all along but was only presented after nearly an hour of unnecessary waiting.
To add insult to injury, the hotel had emailed us in advance requesting our estimated arrival time. We arrived approximately one hour later than planned due to a flight delay and yet the rooms were still not ready. This points to weak operational planning and poor guest handling at the front desk.
