This photo of an American white pelican was taken below Lock and Dam 14 in Hampton, Illinois. My friend, and fellow Trover contributor, @Bill Eaker were entertained by a group of pelicans looking to score a quick meal.
This beautiful pair of lesser scaups were enjoying a beautiful day on the Mississippi river. They were above Lock and Dam 14 near Hampton, Illinois.
It seems like there is always something going on near the locks and dams on the Mississippi River. The day I took this picture there were lots of pelicans in the area, as well as some ducks and coots. I was happy to see this single trumpeter swan swimming above the dam.

Only stayed one night. The breakfast was adequate; some of the food was a little cold (specifically the eggs). The variety of food available was awesome! Loved our room.

The hotel was updated and clean, however we could not turn the heat down in our room. Then due to the open layout of the hotel we were awaken very early on a Saturday morning to the sound of racers gathering in the lobby for the St. Patty's day run.
