Alexander Motel

Taumarunui

10/10 Excellent

Alexander Motel is not a 5* hotel but everything works as advertised. Room, kitchen and bathroom are all clean. Bed is comfortable. For a small kitchen it is well equipped including an air fryer! It is easy to find and situated <100 yards away from the main road. There is an rsa restaurant beside the hotel for good value straightforward food. On the Main Street there are many cafes for breakfast options

The ear plugs left on the table came in handy as the property is located next to a fairly busy road and trucks transporting cars stop and do their driver change-over next to it. Also the carpet in the room could do with a refresh as it does not smell very nice.

Great stay. It took a little while to get used to the fact that this property is unmanned but it actually worked very well. Check in was easy. The kitchen was well stocked. The shower pressure was great - although the shower is protected only by a curtain so not super private but wasn’t an issue. The bed was comfy. We stayed in a private room which even had a smart tv! Hostel luxury! Would definitely recommend. It is in the middle of nowhere but easy to access Whakapapa village and the other...
