We loved staying at the Royal Lahaina in the Oceanfront Bungalow.
Pros: great location, clean grounds, amazing beach, fun and semi private feeling bungalow.
I really enjoyed the live music every night. The small, intimate, low light setting under the massive ficus tree felt magical. The myths of Maui luau was conveniently located on premises, had great food and was very fun and entertaining.
Cons: The bungalow room was not truly oceanfront as described. We were located near the edge of the grassy courtyard, and there is a 3’ tall hedge that divides the grassy area from the beach. You will not have a view of the actual beach. The king size bed is actually a “hotel king” measuring about 6” less width than a typical king size bed. All that being said, it was a great room to stay in with a decent view and we enjoyed it very much.
The high noon restaurant had great drinks and decent food but was very expensive. A late lunch / early dinner was well over $200 for the two of us. We did not try the breakfast buffet.
We did have an issue with the resort scheduling fumigation of the bungalow buildings surrounding us during our stay. It was less than peaceful but only lasted about 36 hours. I would have preferred to be made aware of the scheduled service, but it proved to be less of a burden than I had originally thought it would be.
The staff was friendly, and helpful to most our needs.
All in all it was a very nice experience.
