"Upon arriving I was surprised to find the Inn in a state of need. The young man who checked us in was super friendly & offered to help with our bags. Our room was exactly as described & pictured online. It was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean & towels were available. I thoroughly enjoyed the balcony - it was a great reading spot and I soaked up the early morning sounds out there. The Adirondack chairs on the lawn are very inviting and the view is exceptional. Check in/check out we’re really easy online, but the personal touch at the door was warm and welcoming.
First thing to understand: this is a historic building. It’s very old and so the floors and the stairs creak, the doors make some noise when being pulled shut to lock, and you can hear people talking in the hall (or room above in our case - not enough to hear word for word). It is not a Holiday Inn but it is enchanting and has loads of character.
In speaking with others and asking around, the owners are relatively new (this year) and are rapidly working to correct work that had neglected to be done previously. Right now the restaurant and tavern are not open but the repairs should be done soon. In talking with the manager, they have great vision and are making repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible. It is going to be beautiful so have some patience and bear with them. I cannot wait to see the strides they make by our stay next summer."
