"The hotel had been renovated in late 2024, so the entire property is clean and well maintained. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive! The room was very quiet & spacious. There were also plenty of electrical plugs, many with USB-A connectors. The bed was very comfortable (a make or break for me) and the bathroom super clean & functional, with unlimited hot water (also critical). The breakfast was pretty bare bones, but filling. A waffle maker, fresh fruit, & hot/cold cereals would be a nice addition, but the price of the room was so inexpensive for the quality that the owners might lose money if they added much more to the breakfast offerings. I really enjoyed the hotel’s location in the old town, overlooking the Mississippi River and bridge and just steps from Washington Park (location of the Lincoln-Douglass Senatorial campaign debate of 1858). Buildings in the old town are being renovated, and I hope it becomes a real destination that encourages visitors to stay for a few days. Right now, most of the shopping area is to the East, with blocks of national chain stores. Pretty much as cookie cutter as it gets. I would love to be able to eat at some unique restaurants, shop at local, one-of-a-kind stores, and enjoy some live music, art galleries, etc. This hotel is a real gem, and we’ll definitely be back!"

"Had a very nice stay at this location. The staff were both helpful and friendly. My room was clean and up to date. The motel is well located and central to almost everything in town. Prior to departure, I enjoyed a well maintained breakfast with a good variety of food choices. I would stay here again."

"Room was clean for my 2 night stay.I liked that there was coffee or tee whenever you wanted in the lobby. Breakfast was ok, the usual continental breakfast minus any juice. Coffee was good."

"Stayed here multiple times. Rooms are big compared to other hotel rooms. A lil dated and only interaction with staff was while checking in. Has a bar but I believe it’s only open on weekends. Pool deck is very nice but in need of a few repairs. Overall, it’s always been an enjoyable stay which is why we always choose this hotel while in the area. Breakfast provided as well."

"Hotels.com [and other third party sites] are not booking correctly with this hotel. I don't believe that the room I rented was worth what I paid. When we got there it was 8pm and we had read that check in is until 9pm. The office was closed with a sign on the door: "text/call us for emergencies. And third party sites are not being communicated with them well." I had to call to be texted a code and room to enter on the spot, thankfully. The room was small for 2 queen beds. Nice, new fridge. Maybe 10 parking spots in the lot. It was clear the rooms had been recently renovated because their were codes still visible on the sheets and bathroon door and the freezer still had the instruction manual inside. The TV kept being changed by [assuming] another room because it kept going back to the same channel/show, We watched cautiously with the idea that our remote might change another TV, too. Also, there was not a light switch for lights in the bed area, and they had to be turned on manually. The pool was great but we only used it once for a short time. There was consctruction on the street in front which made the walk into town a little wonky, but fine. We did experience a fire alarm around midnight on the first night and stayed in car until given "clear"- The staff never followed up about it. So most likely will not stay there again with those prices. [We were also under the assumption that there was a hot tub in the room - not true]"
