"The room was clean and adequate for a night’s sleep after a long day of hiking. However, we were very dissatisfied and disappointed that the spa pools closed at 8 pm and only reopened at 10 am. We arrived around that time, and we specifically booked this place because of its amenities. The restaurant also closed at 8 pm, and breakfast was only available until 9:30 am. "I would not recommend staying here if you want to get a good night's rest. You can literally hear everything through the walls, conversations, doors opening, footsteps, etc. Tried calling management to change my room, but they did not respond to my messages or answer the phone. "We had a fantastic stay at The Reef Resort in Taupō. The location right on the lakefront was beautiful, with amazing views (the sunset and Mt Ruapehu were especially pretty) and easy access to walking tracks and town. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and both the thermal plunge pool and in-room spa were a real highlight after a day exploring the area (the main pool was out of action for re-painting, however this didn't bother us and we were offered free use of a sister complex...
