"The room was ok, spacious and good to accommodate 5 people for a couple of nights, but definitely old. Beds were comfortable and pillows are of good quality. Cleanness was subpar, especially bathroom. Bedsheets and pillows for the sofa bed were missing when we arrived. There was no room service during the four days we stayed there, however I noticed the shower gel was replenished during our stay."

"Hotel area is fine. Hotel & room seemed clean. Stayed 4 nights and did not receive any housekeeping services until we asked (asked for towels, 3rd night asked for more towels, removal of dirty/damp towels, and linen change. They claimed that we weren’t serviced because we had our door tag up, but we confirmed to them it was only up during sleeping hours! We were busy the entire time and therefore did not utilize any of their amenities. Will stay again. "

"Staff was very friendly. Hallways smelled like pot smoke. Our door didn’t shut unless you slammed it. Our bathroom fan was falling off the wall. We stayed 2 nights and no maid service was performed so I needed to ask for clean towels. "

"Breakfast had a good selection, average quality. I wish the bar would have been opened earlier. We were going to a baseball game and would have enjoyed a pregame cocktail. Room was ok, bed was not comfortable. There was only one hook for towels. If you use towel rack provided your towel would touch the ground. "
InterContinental Kansas City at The Plaza by IHG

"I chose the King with balcony and plaza view. The photo on Expedia showed a balcony with a table and two chairs on a walkout balcony. The only reason I chose this hotel was for that. When I entered the room and opened the patio door there was a massive spider web with a large spider in the doorway and no walkout balcony. I texted the concierge to let her know and she said she would move my room. She was kind enough, but she put me back into the same style of room which was even worse because it looked like someone use the bathroom on the carpet. There was still no balcony to walk out on still no chairs or table. So I called the one 800 number for IHG and she informed me that that hotel indeed did not have walk out balconies. I informed her that that was misleading because on Expedia, their picture shows that they do. When I got back to the hotel, I asked one of the guests about it and he said that he had a room with two chair and table and a walkout balcony. I then got in my car. I drove out to the intersection made a left and I looked back up at the hotel and I see a half the hotel is a section of rooms facing the plaza with walkout balconies with a table and two chairs. Aside from the balcony, the hotel needs some repairs and cleanup. I know it’s an old building but it hasn’t been maintained very well. I have always wanted to stay at The Intercontinental, but what a disappointment. "

"Felt discriminated against as soon as I walked in. Had to pay 100.00 cash for deposit on room beside the amount I paid through expedia. They wouldnt take my credit card for the deposit. Then somehow I still had a 20ish debit against my card after the fact. Room was hot and never cooled down strong smell inside room."

"Room was clean. Getting food was hectic, but we had never been there before so we didn't know what to expect and didn't check in early enough or think to reserve anything. We went for a show and it was fantastic."
