awesome choice in Lake Tekapo

We absolutely loved this little house! We could see Lake Tekapo from the front porch and we grilled out and had dinner outside there one night. The place is super comfy clean and perfectly appointed with everything you need for a relaxing vacation. A short walk or drive into town brought you to shops a grocery and restaurants. The location was great and quiet and safe. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

They did not have wash cloths to use. They asked us if we wanted shampoo, it was not at the room. The location did not have the address labeled, so we had to figure it out. They are adding onto the house now, which is under current construction, so we had to walk around the house to get information on picking up the key.

Nomads Rest Lake View Lodge is one of many vacation rental homes in the Tekapo area. It is kind of like a "tiny house" but very comfortable and spacious for a couple or small family. There are some nice features like patio furniture and lots of natural light. It is also located close enough to the town center to walk (about a 10-15 minute walk). The cons were: no washer/dryer, confusing heating system that was not explained anywhere, construction next door, broken oven, broken sliding glass door.

Stay away - part of construction site, floppy bed

Our experience started bad with the managing office - telling us "make sure if you eat in - wash the dishes and clean up". We could not find the property as it was part of a construction site. No soap for shower, shampoo and rough towels. The bed was old and sunken in. The manager agreed to move us. This property was ok - basically a room under a house. At 1 am we returned from Star Gazing and the hot water did not work. We dropped off keys at the office - Book Tekapo and requested the manager call. He has not. We called and requested a call back but no. Disgraceful customer service

Poor accommodation arrangement without instruction of check in like emails or phone calls. The house is very cold and the air conditioner is not working properly. Besides, the bathroom is leaking out with water. The accommodation experience does not match with the price.

Woman who checked us in was a bit rude and rushed. The cabin is lovely but feels unfinished, there's a big hole cut in one wall next to the aircon, the bed wasn't made properly, and bathroom tap fittings were loose or missing parts. No laundry facilities either. Open fireplace was beautiful but there was nothing to light it with, we used toilet paper (which there wasn't much of). View of the lake and mountains was mostly obstructed by other buildings, and it's not really walking distance to the town centre. Overall not worth the money at all, and that's a shame.

Lovely spacious bungalow in a quiet road. Generally clean and well equipped but there were a few niggles which would be easy to fix. The briefing booklet had a very negative feel with lots of threats of extra charges for infringements. May be this is necessary but it didn't give a welcoming impression. There was a panel missing from the wall next to the heat pump. The sink tap in the bathroom was loose. There were a whole load of CD cases for film videos - all empty. The heated under- blanket was underneath a foam pad which meant it was useless. The kitchen had no sharp knife and there were no instructions for the very complicated coffee machine. There was no kitchen roll or any vileda cloths for mopping up spills. If there were a little attention to details like this it would be an excellent place to stay.

I loved staying at the Nomad’s Rest. We stayed in New Zealand for 2 weeks. 4 nights were in the Nomads Rest and I wished I had stayed here the full two weeks! Property is spotlessly clean, and very well maintained. There was a cute porch which we had dinner on one night and it was lovely. A working fireplace is inside but we did not have a chance to use it. There were instructions on how to start it and it said wood would be provided in the shed, but we did not see any wood. The only negative was that there is no actual laundry machine within the home. In order to do laundry we would have had to bring it to the main office which is a 5 min drive away. This was disappointing as I had planned to do my weeks laundry here and when I had emailed and asked the office prior, they had said laundry was available but did not mention it was not on site. We ended up doing our laundry by hand as we didn’t want to be beholden to the office schedule. If you don’t plan to do laundry this home is perfect and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

Lovely accom for a couple, very spacious, quiet area and easy walking into town. Definitely cant see the lake but a nice view of the mountains in the distance. The mattress needs to be replaced, very soft and rolling. TV wasnt working. We had a lot of trouble finding the building to collect the key.

The property was spacious, modern and comfortable. The bed was not firm enough. It was hard to seperate recyclable waisted because only one bin was provided instead of two bins for different types of waist.
