  • Behold... Puu Pehe, known as “Sweetheart Rock”. This is Lanai’s most notable landmark and the setting for one of Hawaii’s epic legends. Story goes a hottie princess from Maui was "captured" by a young warrior from Lanai. He made her his wife and he was so smitten with her beauty and... apparently so insecure that he was afraid to let other men see her so kept her in a sea cave near the rock when he was away. One day the weather suddenly changes, the surf slams the area, and... yup, one less princess. The warrior rushed back to the cave, but it was too late, he climbed the steep rock where he buried her in a tomb and then overcome with grief leapt to his death. Moral of story might be... um, don't abduct women and lock them in caves.

5 star resort. Deserves every star.

One of the most beautiful properties with mature, manicured gardens. The food was excellent but the best part was the service. Nicest people around. Nice hiking, spectacular golf, fitness room was great.

Perfect for our 25th wedding anniversary

Unbelievable. Best hotel getaway ever. There’s really only four or five things to do on the island outside of the resort. But that’s exactly what we were looking for. “Dinner Under the Stars” was probably a top 10 lifetime experience. I highly recommend checking that out.

I was very disappointed to see how they still keep birds in cages in a property that sells itself for being "ECO". I would urge them to stop this cruel practice. Other than that, this is a wonderful property. I am still waiting for them to release a hold on my credit card for the full amount of my stay, amount that I already had paid in full through Expedia!!
