Don't let the uninviting parking lot fool you; the reception staff are pros and speak excellent English. I stayed in a bright, spacious Deluxe Room at the top of the hill. It was a bit stuffy at first, but opening the balcony doors fixed that. The bed is fantastic with clean linens and a great mosquito net—a huge plus! The modern bathroom is nice, though the shower is a bit of a prankster, spraying water everywhere except on the person standing in the middle.
There are some "new hotel" quirks: for such a nice place, the lack of a generator is surprising, as WiFi and charging stop when the power goes out. Even when the electricity is on, the internal parts of the wall sockets are so loose they barely touch the plug pins. I also found the empty kitchen cabinets quite funny—plenty of cupboards, but not a single kettle, glass, or fridge in sight! Add an incredibly loud water heater and the lack of a room menu, and you have a memorable stay. A solid 4 stars for the comfort and staff, but bring a power bank!
