Great place to stay overnight in Sintra, close to the historic centre. I had some reservations going in because everything was automated on their end. There was no person on site. I had tried to communicate with them, but got no response. So I was feeling stressed about whether everything would work out as promised. When I pre-registered it also appeared as if the hotel was going to double charge me and I ended up having to get in touch with Expedia, but in the end, the billing issue was fine. However, everything went smoothly. We had an access code delivered an hour before check-in for the front door and another code to a small safe where we got our key to the room. The room itself was large and modern and clean, and definitely met our needs. Unfortunately at 2 AM two women in another room got into a massive fight and ended up having the police called in. Though not the hotel’s fault perhaps if they had a staff person there it could have been resolved. I highly recommend that the hotel change their administrative procedure and have a person available on site.

A lovely and comfortable stay in the heart of Sintra. Self check-in was smooth and everything was easy to access, making arrival stress-free. We stayed on the top floor, a climb well worth it for the charming balcony and beautiful view of the Moorish Castle. The room was clean, tidy, and thoughtfully presented, offering a quiet space to unwind after exploring. Its location is excellent, just a short walk from the National Palace and surrounded by great cafés and restaurants. A warm and welcoming guesthouse that offers great value and a peaceful base in one of Portugal’s most enchanting towns.

Faded glory

The check in wasn't easy. No one was there, and everything had to be arranged by phone. We were told we still had to pay tourist tax and had to send a copy of our ID cards. Otherwise, we wouldn't receive the code for the room we'd already paid for. We hadn't received an email about this, and it was completely new to us. A very unpleasant start. We ended up paying €4 tourist tax and sending a photo of our ID cards by WhatsApp. Then we received the code of the room, again without any explanation. It turned out you had to get the keys from a safe in the living room. The room was okay. Lovely big bed. Relatively quiet. However, the furniture were very old, with broken parts here and there. Bathing was impossible, as the water stop wasn't there. Showering was possible, but the shower curtain was far too small for the tub. The beds were clean, but the furniture was very dusty, and there was mold on the walls and ceiling. We slept well, as it was quiet and the bed was very comfortable, but we wouldn't go back to this place.

Bei Fragen oder Problemen war das Personal bzw. Gastgeber leicht und schnell zu erreichen und es wurde sich sofort gekümmert. Das Bett war etwas hart für uns aber kein großer Punkt der negativ war. Die Umgebung ist perfekt für Touristen, denn man ist am perfekten Touristen Hotspot wenn man die Haustür verlässt. Eine kleine Einkaufsmöglichkeit ist direkt vor Ort keine 50m entfernt. Perfekt für die eigene Verpflegung sind die Restaurants die in einer Vielzahl innerhalb 1 Minute zu erreichen sind.

La estancia ha estado muy bien, camada super grande y cómoda. Eso sí, la tapa del WC estaba rota. Pero vamos, quitando eso ubicación inmejorable (aunque con el lado negativo de que todo alrededor es carísimo, pero llega Uber eats para poder hacer compra y eso). Alojamiento con check in sencillo, terracitas en la habitación y en la hotel. La gente respeta el horario de descanso

Properly is outdated, old, smells bad. The bathroom stunk so bad the toilet seat was broken, the toilet paper holder was missing the shower curtain on the bottom was black very dirty. The ceiling in room 9 is so low my family kept bumping their heads. I would not recommend, pictures are deceiving looks nothing like it in person. The only thing that’s great is the location.

Disappointed

I travel a lot and I love old accommodations, but this really felt like false advertising. The photos online did not give an accurate depiction of the hotel. I stayed in room 6 which featured a beautiful canopy bed that I thought my daughter would love. There was no canopy, just bed posts. Beware that there is absolutely no staff on site. The entrance is a dingy dark living room space with no one to assist. The stairways are steep and the doorways are extremely narrow. Very small bathroom with no counter space and a hand-held shower head only. No refrigerator. Please see my photos and decide for yourself. There are many other lovely places to stay in Sintra.

Está en una ubicación inmejorable de Sintra, destacar que es una ciudad con muchas subidas y escaleras por lo que es poco recomendable para familias con niños o carros de bebé, lo mismo pasa con el hotel las escaleras son pequeñas y empinadas como todas las construcciones de la zona pero es ideal para gente joven ya que tiene muchísimas rutas y el paisaje es precioso. Cómo un punto a mejorar en la habitación, yo pondría un pequeño burro para colgar la ropa ya que carecia de armarios. Sobre el personal no tengo nada que decir ya que en ningún momento nos cruzamos con ningún trabajador, y no hemos escuchado ruidos de otros huéspedes.

Tolle Lage um Sintra zu entdecken, Horror mit Auto

Die Lage ist perfekt um Sintra und seine Sehenswürdigkeiten zu erkunden. Das Parken ist allerdings verheerenden wenn man keinen Platz direkt gegenüber bekommt (ca. 8 Parkplätze). Allgemein ist es zu empfehlen Sintra mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln aus Lissabon zu besichtigen. Man sollte sich zumindest vorher bewusst sein, dass es mit den Auto eher hinderlich ist. Die Unterkunft selbst ist in die Jahre gekommen aber trotzdem alles in allem ok.

Clean! We had the attic bedroom, which was spacious, very clean, and made for a comfortable stay. The bathroom was tiny and barely had space for one person, but I expected that, as this is an old building with character. It’s a lovely, traditional house with local charm, right in the heart of Sintra, which made the experience feel especially authentic.There was no staff on-site, and when we arrived, the place looked a bit abandoned, giving it an empty and quiet feel—we even wondered if anyone else was staying there. That said, we had a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Amazing!

LuXa Charm house is absolutely excellent value. Big rooms with en-suites, totally capturing Sintra’s style. Our room had window views to the moorish castle. The only issue is ordering Bolt Taxis or Ubers to the property, at peak times the taxi will not be allowed by the local authorities to stop outside the accommodation, so you will likely have to walk into town for that. Not a big issue at all.
