"The property was in great condition. It appeared to be no more than a few years old when in fact it's probably 15-20 years old. I was told it was the newest hotel in Cortez. The double-queen room we stayed in was fantastic. None of that crusty carpet, it was hardwood. It was clean and the kitchen area near the door had larger countertops. "The General Palmer was an awesome hotel. I loved the historic aspect of the hotel, especially the elevator. The outdoor seating area overlooking the mountains, downtown, and the Durango and Silverton railroad depot was great too. The breakfast in the morning was good also."

We were both unable to shower because there were no grab bars in the tub/shower and getting in or out would have been dangerous.
