"Even though some of the furniture was very worn, specifically the dresser and table, but also the couch to some extent, the rest of the room was clean and in good shape.
The mattress was just hard enough to be comfortable, but that is a personal preference. Too often we find mattresses that seem more akin to marshmallows, and I cannot stand that, so I was pleased in that respect.
HOWEVER! Even though the hotel was approximately less than half occupied, we were given a room with a door that could open into another room. Typically that has never been an issue at other hotels for us in the past, but here the soundproofing (or rather the COMPLETE lack thereof) meant that every word spoken was as though the door was open. I thought to ask for a different room, but after an hour or so, the noises coming from the next door diminished to zero, so I thought we were going to have a comfortable evening.
Unfortunately, at about 12:30 I awoke to the sounds of a TV show being played at a very loud volume. I was already feeling rather ill, and was reluctant to contact the front desk. I should have, as this persisted until about 3:30, but I thought surely someone else might complain. But the problem was really with extremely poor sound proofing, and an evening manager that never once walked the halls to check for issues or problems.
Were it not for that, the price was a bargain, and the amenities were fairly nice."
