Okay, all staff who I interacted with were great. The issue was that I found once I arrived that, while the property lists air conditioning among their amenities, that the air con was off for the winter. Signs posted throughout the property instructed guests to open their room windows if hot.
Now, I run extremely hot, and so I am always careful to stay in a property that has air conditioning, even in winter (and yes, it is a frustrating way to be. I definitely do not enjoy being this way.). So this window arrangement was unexpected and a bit worrying, given that windows at hotels generally don't open very wide. But that didn't turn out to be the issue. The issue rather was that once the window was open, all the noise from downtown became extremely loud. And not just people yelling and screaming and laughing, not just motocycles and car horns, but also billboards loudly playing music nearby. I was unable to sleep with all this. Three nights of this left me with a migraine that forced me to change my final day's plans and return home early. With this experience in mind, I will not be staying here again.
Please be mindful of this amenity restriction if you too run hot and decide to stay here at a time other than summer. m
