"Unfortunately, I was unable to make this trip due to medical issue. I tried to cancel booking through Expedia, at 5:30, and was told I couldn't cancel and the Hotel was keeping an amount of money, which was more I paid for the room. That was a refundable booking as well. Expedia was going to reach out to the hotel directly to see if they would waive the cancelation price, but the hotel didn't.
Next step was filing a claim with the travel insurance company - this entire process is pain staking. I will see what happens from there.
The rating was solely based on the Hotel staff not working with Expedia or even forgiving a portion of the room price. So much for refundable bookings, I guess they only work when there is no last minute documented emergency involved."
