"My daughter was studying abroad in Oxford and I stayed at the Mercure when visiting her. From the moment I entered the lobby, the person behind the desk was smiling and friendly. There was a heatwave and some of the rooms were historic and not air conditioned. I was given a choice to be comfortable in my room with A/C of stay in an historicalroom. I was given a large suite that was quite comfortable and in a remodeled section of the hotel with A/C. There is parking if you have a car and also the hotel is located within walking distance of everything in Oxford. Fresh chilled water was provided that changed everyday in the lobby from mint, to citrus, to cucumber. The staff went out of their way to help with car service to the airport as the public transit was distressed from the heatwave. I was given suggestions for restaurants and sights and great local tips to navigate Oxford from the lovely gentlemen at the front desk. It did not matter whether it was day shift or night shift the staff made me feel like the Mercure was a great home base to enjoy my stay at Oxford. I would definitely stay there again!"
