Would love to stay again.

The rooms are lovely and purposefully quirky and the staff were absolutely the best. We arrived late, due to some travel difficulties, and were tired and hungry. They couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.

Not to 4 star standard unfortunately

Walked into a room with no linen on the bed, which was solved later, hair all over the basin and counter, which we requested to be cleaned. On return the counter was cleaned but the basin and surrounds not. At this point I asked to speak to management, who was very apologetic and said will be in touch with me further. Coffee machine was broken asked for coffees, they never arrived. Both meals we had there were not to order, Room service took over an hour, arrived cold with no cutlery. When asked why is was ice cold they suggested to reheat it. The restaurant had 4 tables. We asked to speak to management again, the front of house said they were too busy and gave us a voucher to stay free nights in future.... I said rather than throw money at the problem, maybe the manager to speak to me and hear what the issues are, and I returned the voucher. I was then promised management would call before 5pm that day. 3 days later... nothing

Great stay, amazing view!

We had a great stay at the Grand Africa! Its in a great location in town with an amazing view out from the terrace. The rooms were uniquely decorated in an old Africa lodge style whilst still being modern. All the staff were very friendly and the service was great. Best carrot cake we've ever had available in the cafe!

We had a fabulous 2 days at the Grand. Nothing was to much trouble and everyone went out of their way to make our stay special. Would like to mention Gary, Janine and Happiness who were absolutely superb. The rooms were excellent as always and we loved every minute of our stay. These are some of the reasons we always return to the Grand in Plett.

Situated with amazing views over Plettenberg Bay this amazingly quirky hotel provided us with fabulous accommodation, great food (breakfast & dinner), and a great base for exploring the local area. The welcome was warm, and staff very accommodating.

Ovely stay and phenomenal views of the bay.

Lovely boutique hotel with huge restaurant dining facilities. Bedroom was lovely, beds were high and needed a small stool to get into (helped with enjoying the sea view over the balcony) bed were comfy and the room was clean and well stocked with honesty mini bar. The bathroom was very art deco and as big if jot bifgger than the large kingsize bedroom. Double shower, bath and wardrobes. Additional beach bag and sari were available for use as well as an umbrella, not that we used either but it was a nice touch. Additionally when looking for this hotel it is now pink exterior, not the cream pictured, should you get lost looking.

Ótimo para clima romântico

Excelente estadia com muito conforto e serviço de qualidade. Os quartos são excelentes: conforto, luzes e velas que deixam o clima muito agradável, playlist de música ótimo para tomar vinho mo quarto, banheira muito boa com sais de banho. Vista muito bonita pela manhã e café da manhã delicioso.

Très bien situé, une décoration fantastique, chambres (nous avions la 8) avec tous les équipements : machine à café, plateau de courtoisie...Centre ville accessible à pieds, parking au pied de l’hôtel. Service du petit-déjeuner un peu trop long serait la seule « critique ».

Honeymoon bliss

We stayed at the grand for part of our honeymoon in October. The hotel is gorgeous and full of personality and charm. We were upgraded to room 8 which has an amazing view of the bay and a balcony. The hotel kindly gave us complimentary bubbles on our arrival to celebrate our honeymoon. The room was huge with the most comfortable bed of our whole trip I’d say. Amazing double shower and free standing bath. They were just at the last stages of the renovation while we were there so I’ll look forward to going back to see how it all finished up. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend for something slightly different and memorable. Also the fresh cut long stem red roses throughout the hotel and our room are a really nice touch. :)

Sadly this establishment is more shabby than chic. The entire place feels unloved and in need of a massive refurb! We felt so uncomfortable that we left the following day.

Aussergewöhnliche Zimmer, sehr gross und wunderschön. Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen. Sehr freundliches zuvorkommendes Personal. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Das Hotel war das Schlechteste unser dreiwöchigen Reise durch Südafrika! Die Zimmerwände waren mit uralten Büchern dekoriert, ähnlich wie in einer Bibliothek. Der Geruch war entsprechend muffig und schlecht. Die Möbel waren "antik". In das hohe Bett konnte man nur über einen kniehohen Schemel steigen. Die Toilette war duch eine unappetittliche Wolldecke vom Schlafraum getrennt.

Wacky, nostalgic hotel with great view

Staying here was a different experience. Hotel harks back to the inter-war years of the grand hotels with decor and furnishings themed accordingly. This theme continues into bed heights (ours must have been a meter from the floor!) and the placement of light switches, which in our room were not designed to be turned off from the bed. However, the staff were lovely, as were the breakfasts served up on the patio overlooking the panorama of Plettenberg Bay with the Tsitsikamma Mountains beyond. We ate at the hotel on one of our two evenings and enjoyed nicely-presented, tasty food with quality wines available by the glass.

Very tired hotel - aims to be shabby-chic but is definitely more shabby than chic. It could be great but it needs a lot of attention to bring it up to standard. French beds very high, no problem but could be for elderly or someone less mobile. Shower floor tiled crazy paving style with steeply sloping tiles and is very uncomfortable for standing. Pool area not inviting, only 2 sunlongers and not comfortable.

Bela vista

O Hotel é muito bem localizado, com uma vista maravilhosa. No entanto não tem chuveiro, somente uma banheira com uma ducha, bem dificil tomar banho. A manutenção e limpeza do banheiro também deixaram a desejar, uma pena, porque o hotel é um charme.
