Sea Girt Lodge

"It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Rooms are small but we didn't expect anything fancy. My discomfort was the front desk. When I called days earlier and said we were going to a wedding, would it be possible for an early check in, if the room was ready? I was told we could check in at 1 or 2pm for a $35 fee. I declined. Traffic was light and wound up arriving at 2:30. The desk clerk was not very welcoming. I asked if we needed to leave for half an hour. He said, very condescendingly, that he'd allow me a complimentary early check in. I've worked as a concierge at an historic Inn for 17 years and we never charged for early check ins. I've been to large hotels who never charged for early check ins, if the rooms were ready. The motel was not full by the way. As a beach hotel I imagine most guests aren't there for events but attitude goes a long way in guest services. He also never bothered to tell me that there was coffee and breakfast snacks set up and we didn't find that our until we checked out. Next time we are in the area for family visits we won't stay there."

"I was not expecting such a small room for the price paid. The shower was disgusting and walls and ceiling were paper thin. I heard everything from every other room almost to the point like they were in my room. Parking lot was always full and I had to request accommodations every single time I returned. Very old furniture and didn’t feel clean. Mini refrigerator had a leak which caused a puddle and that was very inconvenient to have to constantly keep a towel to soak up the water. The room card had to be activated constantly which was another inconvenience and at times front desk was closed so you would have to call for an attendant. Never booking again after this experience."

"We booked in January and it for late May to accompany our daughter during Prom Weekend. We booked the VIP room with 2 Queen sized beds- shower and jacuzzi. It was overlooking the boardwalk and beach on the top floor- and spacious. That is what I expected. First they put us in the wrong room- one below with only one bed. When I went to the office to ask why they said they gave it to someone else. No explanation. After I showed them my receipt for the room I paid for with the details- they put us in another room with two beds. It was cramped, overlooking the pool, and there was definitely a price difference. I did not get the room I paid for. I was not compensated for the price difference. Consequently I knew the people who had gotten the room- they booked it 2 days AFTER I had after I told them that is where I was staying. Overall the location on the boardwalk was what I wanted- but I am disappointed in how they gave the room away and didn't offer to refund me the difference between the rooms. The positives were the free parking a block away, and the location on the boardwalk was great. The pool looked great but it was 64 degrees out and too cold to swim."
