My first time staying here and I was very impressed, the venue itself is beautiful, the whole place including the grounds were very clean and tidy, the decor of the place was lovely and very imaginative. My room was fantastic, very large, clean and had all the facilities. Dinner and breakfast were just perfect. I cant fault the place in any way, the staff were all very polite, perfect.

I booked this hotel at very short notice, due to visiting the area as a surprise to see my daughter. On arrival the whole building was spotless, and after a short wait, I was greeted by the proprietor. The gentleman was extremely professional, happy, polite and gave the warmest of welcomes to his establishment. He promptly booked me in and escorted me to my room. What an amazing Place. Amazing Hosts. Beautiful Scenery and Loads of horses around the property which my children loved. Elsa and her husband were incredible and so welcoming and genuinely nice people and checked wverything was OK for us and left us enjoy our time. We had a lovely stay. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. And was in a fab location for what we needed.

We couldn't fault this - from the welcome, through a comfortable sleep to a friendly great breakfast. Lovely place, well-run, perfectly clean, and very friendly. The views from the rooms are extensive, yet it's a short walk to a very acceptable pub with good beer and meals. Definitely one to go back to.

Great staff, fab location

A great place to stay in the heart of Cardiff. This is top notch luxury and what great beds and a fantastic sleep, I didn't want to leave. The food is good, but as with all buffet breakfasts don't go at the end as the food will be mostly cold. Bain maries do a fair job but it's not like getting the meal cooked to order. The facilities are great, but beaware that the Spa is NOT included in the room rate and this is an extra £32pp Mon-Thurs and £42pp Fri-Sun. Like good coffee? Go outside...

We stayed two nights at the Bear in September and enjoyed it immensely. This is a ancient Coaching Inn and so layout is a little quirky. But the room was a good size and extremely comfortable. Large four poster bed, comfortable armchair, sufficient hanging space, a well appointed en suite and tea making facilities, made for a great stay. Breakfast was individually made and well cooked. We also are in the bar late on Sunday and the roast (topside of beef and all trimmings) was outstanding....

It had everything we needed for a one nights stay. The only thing we couldn’t find was the switch for the heating as we did need to take the chill off now it’s getting cooler. Despite the fire alarm going off and no one knowing what to do at 5am we had a pleasant stay
